Hi, I understand your requirements and it seems very nice for me to complete as per my experience in home automation and security system. I have Arduino and Raspberry pi board to start quick testing. We have to just discuss about Wi-fi module. I wouls like to suggest ESP8266 in sleep mode. We can also use photon particle module. Do let me know if you have any queries/questions.
