Hello, I am a mechatronics student in Germany and I found your project interesting. I never worked with xbee but it seems a well established and easy to use device. As far as I understand you will put a rapsberry pi(arduino may not handle the data) on a drone and and read the data from sensors wireless. Additionally you would need an XBee Explorer dongle to receive the signal from xbees. It can be done if ground stations can send signals all the time( not just activating when the drone is near). I think i can manage to do it since i had some similar experiences before. Please contact me for details.
