Hi!
First, thank you for your consideration of my bid. My name is Alec and I hold a B.S. in Geographic Information Science (i.e. cartography).
The project description states that you would like general information maps (for tourists) for Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The maps need to be legible, well-designed, and of a resolution high enough that you can print large copies (for a wall, I assume?) and smaller copies you can distribute to visitors.
Let me outline a little bit of my plan for you.
First, I would find and record the points of interest that you would like to include on your map for each of the two sites. Next, I would find or create my own base-maps of the cities to a scale such that the points of interest can reasonably fit on one map and the reader should be able to figure out how to navigate from one point to the next.
For the next part, I would hope to have your input on what deliverables you'd like to have. But I think it would be a good idea to make the map with pinpoints for the points of interest numbered and labeled. Then we can include, as a sort of legend, the thumbnails of the points of interest with a brief description of their significance to the city. On the big map, the legend would be placed in a nicely designed border around the map. On the smaller maps, it may be wise to print the whole map on one side with the information in a brochure-style format on the other side.
Please reach out to me so we can clarify any project details you want!
