Hello. I have a working accelerometer design based on an Arduino Leonardo. The desigm takes the atmel design and puts it onto a custom size pcb. The design is for an educational company in the uk, it is an open source design, so there are no royalties to pay. The design can be cut down to do what you require, the data read by the sensor is of x,y,z in the form of raw text that is sent out via the usb connector. Very low power is consumed by the whole circuit.
