International Plastic Bag Free Day

Grey Lynn 2030 Waste Away is an Auckland community group co-ordinating a nationwide campaign for International Plastic Bag Free Day | 3 July. We would like to kick-off this initiative by holding an event in our community (1 or 2 July), in the format of a local fair, including: stalls, entertainment, food trucks, music, interactive sessions, guest speakers (politicians), and more. This event will predominantly raise awareness on the use of plastic, and encourage the community to look at alternative options to using plastic bags. As volunteers with full time jobs we are finding our time stretched and therefore are looking for someone to head this event for us. You will need to have a proven track record of event management, have good ideas of how to coordinate this event, be disciplined and able to work independently. A passion for sustainability and the environment would be a bonus!
