Re-design an existing music sharing site (built with Yahoo's SiteBuilder) to make it a more sophisticated, visually attractive, and interactive portal. The site offers an opportunity for users to upload their own MP3 music files, using one of the free large file transfer services and publish them on our site via a simple MP3 webplayer (powered by a third party and embedded on our site). The music files are compiled into small, up to 5-tune playlists and make available for others to listen/stream them or to download them for a small fee. The ordering and payments are also "outsourced" to the same third party that provides the webplayer. Payments are made through Paypal. The new site should have its own MP3 player built-in and integrated with our own fast and reliable file upload and management system, which, in addition, offers our own payment processing. In other words, it has to be a music store like iTunes or Musicovery, but the main differences are that here the music is uploaded by the users themselves; the tunes are compiled into a short playlist, mixed by the users, and then make available to stream and download by other users for a small fee. We need a user and music provider registration functions/databases, music upload and display functions/databases, by various searchable genres and categories; payment processing function with a control panel showing history of all transactions with simple analitic tools (orders by user/provider, type of music, avarage purchase, etc) In addition we, need to ad/develop standard interraction and user communication/networking tools, such as blog or forum/guesbook, rating function, referrals, my own favorite playlists, my friends' playlists etc. We like creative simplicity and clear functionality, the simpler and more intuitive the functions, the better. (one of our favorite designs is [login to view URL]) but any original and attractive design will work, flash and mouseover solutions preferred over links and multiplae pages connected by navigation bars.
