I am building a WordPress site using Smartline Pro template. I want each item on the main menu to have a different coloured background but putting standard code#menu-item-123 {background: #000000} into child-theme [login to view URL] doesn't work. Can you give me code that does (I have already tried several suggestions which don't)?

There is jQuery way we can achieve that. We can write up a script that'll dynamically add up the background-color property for each of the menu item and it would take care that no two colors match.
