An Interactive Historical Timeline

I need to create an interactive timeline about a certain place's history in a global context. I will provide images, dates and text of two timelines from the same period in history and they need to be displayed in parallel in a creative manner. The timeline needs to be interactive so that I can move across events, click on events to get details etc. (need creativity on how to make it interactive and impressive).
