The programming language needed is ASP .NET , using WebAPI and MVC. The requirements for the project are to write a simple travel planner: * User must be able to create an account and log in * When logged in, user can see, edit and delete trips he entered * Implement at least two roles with different permission levels (ie: a regular user would only be able to CRUD on his owned records, a user manager would be able to CRUD users, an admin would be able to CRUD on all records and users, etc.) * When a trip is entered, it has Destination, StartDate, EndDate, Comment * When displayed, each entry has also day count to trip start (only for future trips) * User can filter trips * Print travel plan for next month * REST API. Make it possible to perform all user actions via the API, including authentication * All actions need to be done client side using AJAX, refreshing the page is not acceptable. (If a mobile app, disregard this) * create functional tests that use the REST Layer directly. * Bonus: unit and e2e tests! * regarding the website design, try to keep it as tidy as possible.

I've designed similar websites before in my professional career. The main website uses standard SPA (choose what you want, I recommend Angular JS) that connects to the back-end with WebAPI and OAuth 2 for authentication. I have experience with custom OAuth servers, or using facebook / twitter / active directory authentication. Then a simple data abstraction layer allows access to a database (of your choosing, I recommend using Entity Framework). All the components used are fairly standard and it should be done by Saturday, including some unit tests. For the design, I can use either a bootstrap theme, or something based on Google's material design ([login to view URL]).

ASP.NET SPA with web api out of the box will do 30% of the code. We can use meberhsip to create and auth users. All database will be created using model first approach and tied using EF. Roles again can be take care using Admin and we can use a wrapper around API to make sure only themself or admin can change it. For UI, we will use bootstrap. What is not clear is what do you mean by filter. It needs to be defined
