A location-based Android/iPhone app, which allows users to interact by chatting

Critical features include: • Login/verification of users through the Facebook API • Sending invitations to facebook friends via the app • The sending of user GPS data to the server • Keeping track of which users are in the same geographical area • Allowing users to 'check-in' into a given location • Displaying this information to the app user via a list of users (along with some information and a profile picture of them) sorted by their distance • A map (using for instance Google Maps API) displaying users in the area • Some buttons in the app should only work for a limited amount of time after other actions have been taken by the user (i.e. timing must be supported) • The app should be built around a clean, playful art-style in which actions are 'game-ified', unobstructive animations are used, and the purpose of icons/buttons are clear to the user The supporting server should: ◦ Store information in an encrypted format ◦ Reject impossible GPS information ◦ Keep track of inter-user communication permissions ◦ Keep track of user locations through a grid ◦ Keep track of changes to their profile information, status and communications ◦ Hide device addresses from users, instead handling requests (for instance sending a chat message) through userIDs and sessionIDs.
