For what you're explaining, my recommendation its to code it on HTML5 for a few reasons: Its compatible with most of devices (tablets, pc, mobiles). Its more friendly with different web browsers. Its more easy to implement on your actual website and can be "upgraded" if needed. I will not only code the widget you need, will give you the source code (with comments), help you to implement it and give you support for 3 months more in case you need improvements. Will dedicate from 3 to 5 hours per day in order to achieve what you need but that doesnt mean i will not be available for you: always reachable thru email :) I have plenty experience on HTML5, im a webmaster since 1999, with some colleagues we founded an small web hosting company in Mexico and we provide web design, e-marketing and hosting services for clients around the world. This can be done with CSS / HTML 5 alone on the client side. However I am not sure what exactly you want. From my guess you want to get some image based on input. so some image processing is involved. If this is just a avatar or low security image Client based JS/HTML is enough and server side involvement for creation is not required. However if this has to deal with security issues then we have to get server scripts. I think your requirement is simple (the former one).
