I am looking for a basic example of a html form making a call to a php file via AJAX. I know how to do this in IE but I am stuck on FireFox. I am sure it is just a coding error on my part but I am looking for help.
The example should consist of only one html file and one PHP file. The HTML file should contain the basics as follows:
**text box** ( for input )
**Button** ( to trigger the JS )
and a **Table / DIV** to display the AJAX/ PHP output in.
**I am not looking for Graphics CSS and fluff.
**
Here is an example of the PHP file to call:
<?php
$openfile = "http://".$_REQUEST['q'];
$i = file_get_contents($openfile);
echo $_REQUEST['q'].<'br'>.$i;
?>
Make sure the JAVA is contained in the HTML file and
_not a JS file_. Remember this _must_ work in FireFox, Netscape, Opera & IE.
I am using PHP 4.3 on a Linux server. Keep this in mind when coding. But I think that has little bearing on this project.
Extra examples will result in a bonus. Such as making multipule outputs to the same file in diffrent locations.
Keep the code Portable !
Good Luck and Happy Bidding !!
