Determine how many products can fit in one box, this number is stored for that product in the database (should be editable from magento backend). Calculate shipping for multiple boxes, i.e. 30 items can be shipped per box, customer orders 100 items; calculate shipping for 100/30. In this instance shipping would be based on 4 boxes. If there is multiple products - multiple quantity (there could possibly be more than one manufacturer). We do already have multiple manufacturer shipping setup for magento. For each manufacturer, determine how many products can fit in one box, this number is stored for that product in the database (should be editable from magento backend). Calculate shipping for multiple boxes, i.e. 30 items can be shipped per box, customer orders 100 items; calculate shipping for 100/30. In this instance shipping would be based on 4 boxes. If there are multiple products being ordered from one manufacturer, recognize that different product types can be shipped in one box. For example, if you can fit 30 items of product X in a single box, and 100 items of product Z in the same single box alone?and the order is for 10 items of product X and 50 of product Z, there must be a percentage value to determine if these items could all fit in one box or if they would need to be shipped as two boxes. That percentage value should be editable from the magento backend for each manufacturer. This is because we won't always know exactly how many different products a manufacturer will fit in a box; therefore we'll want to adjust the percentage allowed for each box until we find a good fit overtime. In the last example, if the percentage value reached lets say 91% and we set the percentage for that manufacturer at 90%, we would expect the script to recognize that all of those products won't fit in a single box and calculate shipping for multiple boxes. This will only apply for multiple products being shipped in one box. If it is just one product with multiple quantities, then we do know the exact number so the percentage value is not needed.
