Displaying on a dot matrix using labview

Dot matrix display is a display device that is used to display different information on a simple display device of limited resolution such as digital clocks, machines, and display screens at different busses and supermarkets. Usually, that display device consists of a matrix of lights arranged in a specific configuration such as rectangular or circular shapes. The main mechanism in operating that device is by switching on or off selected lights, the text or graphics can be displayed. That is done through the use of the dot matrix controller which converts instructions from a processor into signals that turns on or off lights in the matrix so that the required display is produced. In this design problem, an implementation of dot matrix was implemented using LabView and Digital trainer kit. The application that was implemented is to display a certain character and make it to move throughout the matrix. In this design, a VI was build on the LabView program that takes care of generating the needed signal to the e DAQ which is in turn supplies the signal to the dot matrix on the digital trainer board. In this design report, the hardware used along with the block diagram are presented, the n the software details are provided.
