Database Help in VB 6.0

I am looking for someone to tutor me on database programming in Visual Basic 6.0. I have done plenty with SQL in ASP pages and other dos languages but not really in VB yet. I need to work with databases and tables in VB 6.0 and after reading many times on it, I get so confused with ADO, DOA, etc. And I assume I will be using an Access database because its not going to be setup to have MSSQL or anything else that big installed. Although there are many reasources on the internet, I would much rather pay someone to help me get started and ask some direct questions along with making up samples for me to follow. For the questions below, here is how the program will be structured. A main form for the program will have menu options to open additional forms for database operations such as adding new records, searching, etc. Here are some questions I will need answered: Do I only open the database / table when I need to use it and close it? And if so, do I do this in the form that uses the table? Or do I open the database in the main form when the program starts and then just open the tables as needed and close them? I have a form with text boxes that are filled in for a new customer. Once the information is filled and validated, I need to add this to the table as a new record. I need an example of this. How do I do SQL and list records based on the results? Can I use SQL to update records with a matching field like all records that has a customer number of 3? I need an example of this. Here is some code I found online for ADO - I do not know what the parameters are for the rs.Open. I need help with this also. Just someone to hold my hand through learning some of this database stuff and creating examples as well for each part I need to learn.
