Digital Scale Interface with Online Cost Calculation

**This is being posted by RAC: Even though the RAC deadline does not imply this, the agreed deadline between the buyer and the coder is August 1, 2004 midnight PST.** My digital freight scale has an RS-232 interface. Only TXD & Ground, so no handshaking. The serial framing is: **2400, 8, 2, N** The format is: **XXX ###.#** My information came from here: [login to view URL] While this is for the same brand, it is for a model 400. _I have a Model 150._ Also: The scale works in both pounds and Kgs. We need to know which, etc. **1)** **I would like a graphical display of the weight in realtime.** It would need to be movable, and sizable. I would like to be able to anchor it and have it remain on top (optional.) It must remember all settings in between uses, especially window position. I prefer an .INI file over Registery entries. Nice, large, easily readable Digital Display. **2) I will want the ability to add a value to the weight.** It needs to work 2 ways: A fixed amount, or a Percentage. **3) A field is needed for _my_ Zipcode. ** **4) A field is needed for the _destination_ Zipcode.** **5) A checkbox is needed for optional Insurance. ** **5b) A field is needed for Insurance Coverage**, only if the above box is checked. **6) A series of radial buttons needed to select a Shipper. **At first: "USPS", "UPS", "FedEx", "DHL". Only need USPS to function (to start). The others grayed-out. **7) A command button needed for "Get Rate" (or "Calculate Postage"?) **This is the big one... Upon pressing the above button, this must go out to the Web, and obtain one or more rates from the Shipper's website. In the case of USPS, I would like both Parcel Post and Priority Mail rates. Both displayed, and labeled, etc. If the Insurance box was selected, then this amount must also be displayed. ## Deliverables A total must be displayed below each itemized estimate. A sound should be played upon completion. Thats it!! Hit the button, and get a dollar amount... Accuracy is essential. 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition. A .ZIP file is to include a compiled executable, and sourcecode. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP. I may also want to port this to an iPaq. WinCE, and Windows Mobile 2002 or 2003 may be on the horizon. The iPaq uses a StrongARM processor. I may also want it to run on an SH3 processor as well. So while I don't want an Embedded solution at this time, I would like the programmer to keep this direction in mind for ease of future porting, etc.
