I am looking to develop a social networking site. This Site will have four to five sections -
1. Individual comes and login, creates a profile
2. Individual provides some details on individuals he wants to follow on web
- Based on the details he provides (name, company and services he has targeted, the Individual section will fetch data from facebook, twitter, linkedin, hoovers, jigsaw [login to view URL] the use of free API's made available by these sites)
- Based on the company he is looking to follow, the information will be fetched from linked, twitter, hoovers, google
- based on the services he has targeted the section will fetch relevant data from google
3. Trade - the individual will be able to trade contacts with existing contacts in database
4. the individual will be able to connect with fellows registered on the site
5. the individuals will be able to create groups and connect with more individuals bringing them in the group
Develop using open source components
Easy to use and scalable to handle large data sets at a later point in cycle
should be able to explore as much as readily available modules in market (like open source platforms eg. elgg, CMS if needed like Joomla) etc.
