CSS Sprite Graphic Navigation for WordPress Site

Need some assistance creating a graphical navigation sprite on a website. It's running on WordPress, has jQuery and Javascript functionalities that will possibly be inter-woven into the new features you'll be creating – so knowing your way around that stuff without breaking things will be important. Each page within the navigation menu (such as 'Home' 'About' 'Contact') will be represented by a small graphic element that when hovered over will change to another image / color / texture.
