Estimating / Quotation Template Brief. We are in construction / electrical business and we use Excel with multiple worksheets to do our quoting / estimates for projects / tenders. Each estimating worksheet is named after the task for the project eg: Level 1, Level 2 , Level 3 etc or Installation of Switchboards , Cabling, Fitoff etc Each estimating sheet (worksheet) is identical. Materials required for each task is entered onto the estimating task sheet with quantities and cost for each item as well as labour time to install each item. A total cost of materials and time is shown on each sheet. We would like a new template with the following features: • Be able to dynamically change the number of estimating sheets depending on the size of the project eg Add new sheet. • Have a Project info sheet which we would enter project details, customer, quote number, status (drop down box) , Global Markup for materials, Global Labour rate with cost and sell for each labour resource. Eg Project manager, Technician, Tradesman, apprentice etc. Option of adding /changing the resource types and entering cost / sell rates. • Each estimating sheet is to be identical which we would enter all materials for that task including quantities and installation time (in minutes). Have a dropdown box allowing us to select which labour resource for each item. Provide a total on each sheet showing material cost, Markup for that sheet, Total cost of labour with totals for each Labour resource, • Create a BOM – Separate Bill of materials sheet which Gathers / Lists all the materials from each worksheet which will provide us with a total quantity of all materials. This sheet would be used to send to our suppliers to provide project pricing. • Once we get pricing back from our suppliers, this would be manually entered against each item on the BOM sheet. This would then update each estimating sheet with the new price for items with a price. For items without a price entered on the BOM sheet, then we would use the default one already used on the individual worksheet. To clarify: Only update pricing on the individual worksheets only of a price is entered against the material in the BOM sheet. • We would also like the option of having a single mark up against each individual item on each worksheet or have the option of using a global markup which would override all individual markups against each item to all sheets. We would also like a summary page which shows us total labour, cost, sell, profit, markup, breakdown of labour resources time etc.
