Hello,
My client would like to develop a brochure app for a property development. There are currently 2x 60 page brochures that we want to publish in app form to work on ipad & iphone.
Brochures are currently in PDF format but we can get hold of original files or png images if preferred.
A simple home screen will be required, which launches into the 2 brochures via 2 thumbnails. Clicking the thumbs loads the brochures where a user can flick through and return to the branded home screen when done.
There is a possible requirement to add a table of contents - only about 10 headings.
The app would be similar in principle to the uberflip demo app but without the header and footer elements, mainly just the actual content in the middle.

Required features include:
- High quality images and a crisp / slick feel to the app.
- Ability to pinch or tap to zoom - quite a few pages will need this due to detail within the floorplans and making small text legible.
- Ability to flip from portrait to landscape is wanted, since some pages lose context in single-page portrait format. Portrait just shows a single page, landscape a double page spread. Ideally this rotation would keep the user on the page they were on previously.
- Just a simple swipe or tap left / right effect will suffice
- Fast turnaround is needed.
- Support through to launch on App store.
Other considerations include the ability to re-use this code to deploy further brochures using the same template as an economy of scale.
Do get back with any questions, and do send examples of proposed routes / similar apps for clarity.
We would like to know where you're based, approximate time to develop based on the above, and what your hourly rate is, along with when you could start.
Examples of other or similar apps developed would be useful also.
All designs will be provided, this is predominantly a programming job.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there,
Thanks for posting the project. We have gone through the project description and understood the requirements. However, could you please help us to solve the following few queries we have regarding the project:
Queries:
1. Brochures are currently in PDF format but we can get hold of original files or png images if preferred.
=> PDF will do but png files will be great at the cost of image size. But will improve the quality.
2. Other considerations include the ability to re-use this code to deploy further brochures using the same template as an economy of scale.
=> One thing we would suggest is to have web-services integrated in the app so in future even if there are n number of brochures we can display them easily without changing the app source code and thus avoid creating new versions.
3. Would you provide the wireframe and project requirements document for detailed understanding of the project flow and features needed?
4. The web services are need to transfer the data between the server and the app to make the app more dynamic?
5. Do you want to integrate Facebook/Twitter?
6. Which iOS versions and iOS devices do you want support for?
7. Will the app store the brochure locally on device or will it first download from web-service if available and then store it?
8. Are there any other features that you are planning to add in the app?
Have few other queries but would like to discuss them once we are short listed and receive the final requirements specification document.
Please read the private message board for our iOS application development experience and some notes.
Looking forward for your reply.
