Build an In-Browser Interactive Sci-Fi Map

This project requires a website programmer/designer with a keen artistic eye and a creative imagination in the works of science fiction in the gaming world. The ability to both create high quality visual aesthetics and employ them into a sleek browser-based interface is vital. Project Brief: Something very different from the usual website creation. This project will require the use of Javascript and WebGL to create something somewhat similar to a simplified 2D version of this: [login to view URL] Detailed Project Composition: - A science fiction themed map consisting of circles (Representing locations) connected by lines (Representing travel routes). - The entire map must be designed to look and feel like the user is looking at a galaxy. Each destination is a solar system represented by a small glowing orb. - This map will act as a viewable territory chart for a separate game which is operated separately from the site (The site is a map that represents the game, not the programmed game itself). - A faction is represented as "owning" a location by its circle changing to their colour as well as their emblem appearing slightly above the location. If a faction owns two locations that are connected by a route, the line that represents the route should also be coloured accordingly. - When a faction is attacking or taking over a new location, a graphical representation of this will need to be displayed such as an arrow in the colour of the attacking faction, pointing at the location they are invading. The circle of a location in conflict will, instead of being one solid colour, have the top half as the attacking colour and the bottom half as the defender's colour. - A sub-menu which contains a highlighted list of all the factions currently included in the map along with a short description (The details of these factions and their descriptions would be entered via the admin panel explained below). The menu should also include statistics on how many locations each faction owns, who they are at war/in an alliance with and finally a separate 'leaderboard' of the top factions with the largest territories to encourage competition. - A separate large menu which will act as 'news feed', automatically including the most recent changes across the map (Example: "[FACTION NAME] have taken [LOCATION NAME] from [PREVIOUS CONTROLLING FACTION]"). - A Frequently Asked Questions section that will also contain an explanation on how the game and map works (This will be written up by our developers, you will only need to create the necessary menus and space for the information to be entered). - As this map is to be a representation of territories in a separate game, it will need to be update as the balance of power shifts. In order for this to be achieved as efficiently as possible, we will need a comprehensive administrator panel which gives the ability to: 1). Manipulate the map as a whole. This includes adding, editing, renaming, moving or deleting locations as well as the routes they are connected by. 2). Change the colours of each destination and the routes connecting them in order to define "territories". 3). Add/remove/edit factions (This includes configuring their personal colour, emblem, name and description as well as who they are at war or in an alliance with). 4). Easily assign activities to each faction. Each week every faction will need to be updated on what they are doing on the map. As it will be done on a regular basis, it is of utmost importance this is coded to be easily administrated. 5). Write up and modify existing text entries in the menus such as the Frequently Asked Questions section. 6). Post highlighted alert messages that will stay at the top of the screen for anyone viewing the map. This will be used to inform users if major changes have been made or if the site is going down for maintenance.
