I need a login system to use the same user accounts across multiple web applications. Requirements: 1. One login system where users log in once at any of the connected sites, to be logged in to all the sites with the same user account. There are multiple subdomains and not all of them are hosted on the same web server. I want users to use only 1 user account, instead of having to create a new one for each site/service as it is now. Would also prefer if one did not have to log in to each site after already having logged in to one of them. 2. Some of the sites are a different software, which needs to be manipulated to work with the central login system instead of its own internal login. Such software are XenForo (forum software) and Mantis (bug tracking software) for now, in addition to a custom website and one non-web application. All are written in PHP and using mySQL databases. 3. The login system need to be secure so it can't be easily hacked by cyber criminals. 4. If possible, it would be nice to make it so that if one server is down, one are still able to login to the services hosted on the servers that are still up (maintenance and ddos occasionally causes one or more servers to be down for limited time periods). (In other words, maybe have a copy of user db on multiple servers, to allow login even if one server is down, but this also requires a good solution to keep all the tables synced across servers (if user changes pw for example)).

We have few questions : 1->How many total website is the there ? 2->Can we use our 2 servers one for main authentication which will work if at all it is down move to backup ? 3->While setting authentication in all the server only Username and password will validate but after that they will set some other session variables, Do you have like that ?
