I have a cronjob running on a VPS running a php file to insert items into a DB. The items come from multiple sources and each source is read by the php file from a txt file eg S1,S2,S3,S4. This was working fine untill the data base hase become quite large with 500,000 items. Now the cronjob runs the first source in the list and then send email to say process has failed and terminates. Im guessing this is some sort of time out type issue but I need it fixed with either a more efficient code. I have already increased timeout in [login to view URL] but this has not helped. I am a novice with this type of thing. Thus is the cronjob for i in $(cat /var/www/vhosts/domain/httpdocs/admin/[login to view URL]) ; do php -q /var/www/vhosts/domain/httpdocs/admin/[login to view URL] "$i" || { echo "Cron $i failed" | mail -s "Cron error" hello@[login to view URL] ; } ; done

Hi. You are absolutely right: increasing time of excution is not the only way to solve your problem. Memory limit might cause the problem. Seems need to analyze your algorythm, database structure and so on. Sometimes adding corect indices to some tables can VERY improve speed. So can you please show the code and database structure to me, I'm sure I can help you
