Improve existing Python Script - Photo Manipulation

We have an existing python script that needs improvement. We have a python script that helps us automate some tasks required in product photography. The script works on every image in a certain folder and outputs them accordingly. This script currently does a few things: + Detects the edges of a product and crops around the edge. + Adds a white background to the cropped image. + Resizes each image to a defined image size like 800x800 px. + Renames each image according to the folder name. The problem with our current script: + Edge detection isn't perfect, especially if background and object is similar color (white.) + Not easy to change the margin for edges. + Not easy to change output image size. What we are looking for: + An improved script with better edge detection results and easier customization. + Use different technique such as contours if needed. + Code that uses good practice. + The candidate should be familiar in Python, opencv, pillow, contours. + Original code, project folder and sample images will be provided
