Cover size 1200x1800 DPI, as high as possible but this may depend on any images you use (72 DPI MINIMUM) Book cover design We call it book cover design but strictly it is digital cover design. This is not to be confused with 3D images or business vector type designs for this project. We specialise in book cover design for self publishers, in regards to Kindle, Barnes $ Noble, iBooks etc. Therefore we require a flat 2D image for the book design at the above dimensions. ## Deliverables Before we begin with the design, a few points that need clarified: 1 This is an assignment which requires the designer to look at the brief and be confident they can provide the service we offer. 2. We don't want 3D covers, we provide ourselves after your design of the 2D 3. You must use either the font requested or use the usual 'familiar' fonts for book cover design. Your cover must connect with the author and reader, i.e., original yet familiar with a best selling book. Typeface is very important and in your response you must display this knowledge. 4. The digital book cover MUST be clear at a very small size, as well as medium and large. A design for the web is very different than print, and you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of this in your response. 5. If you are successful, we will provide you with urls of image providers. Whatever image you use you must email us with that url BEFORE you begin work. This is to clarify rights issues. If you are able to design original artwork, this will be a benefit. 6. We will provide you a list of urls we use to help you in regards to this 7. We estimate from what our designers can achieve that the whole process should not take more than 2 hours 20 mins (this includes any updates as required, See Point 7.) We expect any potential contractors to read this brief in full, so for that reason any responses that dont have 'epubbooktest' in your subject heading, or the first line of your response won't even be considered. Our rate includes reworks and if your design doesn't require any, we estimate this will take 20 mins off your time. 8. If we, or the Client need the original design reworked then you are liable for up to 5 of these (x2 from us, x23 from the Client) before payment. 9. If the rework requested from the client deviates from the original design in a significant manner , then WE ARE RESPONSIBLE. If we feel you have kept to the design brief, and your design is professional, then we take responsibility for that and we will take on the redesign and PAY YOU FULLY. WE MUST HAVE ANY PSD FILES YOU HAVE CREATED INCLUDING ANY BEFORE MERGE/FLATTEN etc. 10. As per the above point, we must have PSD files from end to end because we design Social Media Backgrounds for our clients SO THIS IS IMPORTANT. We need you to be working with Photoshop/Illustrator CS4 and above. You may use other programs that can save PSD Layers (such as Xara), but you must make us aware of this on response. 11. Before payment is made you MUST agree that any copyrights are passed to us, so therefore we can pass to our clients. Even if royalty free images are used the end product has it's own copyright. BRIEF Book Title: White Kite Author: Rawe Wildeblood Tag (If any): The Street Children of Rio de Janeiro are more valuable than anyone can imagine Please tell us about your book synopsis and design ideas: This book is set in Rio de Janeiro and is focused on one detective (Alvar Mondio) who has come from nothing in the 'favelas' (slums) in Rio. There is a lot of corruption in both the Rio police forces. The street children are seen as nothing more than rats by some in the Force, but when an unusual number start to go missing Alvar starts to investigate, but he is advised not to. The novel doesn't deal with sexual abuse but something more sinister, which it materialises, Alvar's boss is making money from. The title comes from the fact of a young character that Alver befriends who always flies his battered white kite in the evenings, therefore Alvar always knows where these group of street kids are. When the kite stops flying then Alvar knows there is trouble The cover should show Rio but also have a dark side which my be hard to convey, but is what is needed, maybe Christ the redeemer, against a favela backdrop. Ideally in the background a white kite flying, possible a young boy flying it.
