I recommend using SSRS (SQL Server reporting service) for this 1. can hide the column (vb.net grid , then click preview) 2. can query every column 3. can query specific word/alphabet (using like '%' 4. can sort every column 5. can export in excel spreadsheet (integrated in SSRS) 6. can export in pdf(integrated in SSRS) 7. pager function(integrated in SSRS)

Ihave already build lots of report by like mention criteria for eg for Overdue reports some customer some time needs only list, some time to show mobile number, some time address etc... , and expoerting to excel also can be done very simply. Hope the above explanation is enough
