Database search configuration for website

The design of website is near completion. Project: create and install code to quickly search (whatever alphanumeric characters that the user enters into the search boxes like on [login to view URL]) through approximately 45 text files with content in a format like below: A 12 GNU £ 255 A 10 WMY £ 255 A 20 PYJ £ 255 A 20 FLF £ 255 The size of the text files range from less than 1MB to 40MB and the end result of the search will be displayed in a format that is similar to the layout shown on the regtransfer website. You are free to suggest how to convert (transfer data from) text files to another format (perhaps database of some sort). There will be 3 types of searches: one for anything, and the other two for DVLA plates (current and prefix style) and the results will need to show plates in a prioritised order.
