Hello If you would like to send through some additional information on your EC2 setup, including which database you are currently running (eg., MySQL, MSSQL, ..), which version, as well which OS version you have set up, I can have a look at it and get back to you. As the server is live, depending on which storage engine you have running, some background modifications settings will need to be performed temporarily to flush transactions/caches to disk before running a hot backup.
