Scope of Work- Auto Bulb Parts Selection Site
Date: 12/20/2008
Revision: -
CL (CL):
Service SP (SP):
TBD
Summary of overall Goals:
Develop a new website that incorporates vehicular bulb reference data for each model year, model and make.
1. This website will allow users to look up a list of parts for their vehicle by selecting as follows:
1. Part Category
2. Make and Model Year
3. Model
The parts categories will be selectable.
2. After these selections are made, a list of the correct parts for that combination of Part Category, Make, Model Year and Model will be displayed using a graphic image.
3. Each page will display frames to allow the administrator to display links to other pages and banner advertisements. The main data frame showing the search results will be static, but the administrator can change and update the frames by changing a single file. Other frames will be dynamic and display up to 10 banner advertisements that appear randomly from a master list that is controlled by the administrator.
4. All pages must appear in HTML format so that they can be crawled by the search engines for content.
5. The initial phases (Phase I and II) of the project will only set up the Automotive Light Bulbs Data. This scope shall set up the framework to look up other part categories, but it will not populate the data for other part categories, such as Automotive Oil Filters, etc…
The initial bid (Phase I) shall only include populating the data for model year 2007. Phase II shall be a separate project and shall be bid after the completion of phase I. Phase II shall be to populate all data for the remaining light bulbs used in all models and makes for 1950-2006 and 2008 model years.
6. Data accuracy for this project is extremely important. Extra emphasis must be placed to assure that the data that is looked up accurately, thoroughly precisely and translated into the new website
Overview:
i. Part Categories.
The initial page will contain Part Categories as follows:
A. Automotive Light Bulbs
B. Automotive Oil Filters
C. Automotive Air Filters
D. Etc…
This list of Part Categories shall be a simple HTML page that can be updated easily using any HTML editor.
The initial phase of the project will only set up the Automotive Light Bulbs Data. This scope shall set up the framework to look up other part categories, but it will not populate the data for other part categories, such as Automotive Oil Filters, etc…
Each page shall be formatted exactly the same so that the frames can be updated from a single page. We refer to the parts of the pages as follows:
Body Frame:
The body frame shall contain the main page content.
Header Frame:
The header frame shall contain the graphic banner displaying the new website name and also contain an area for links to other web pages. These links should appear as drop down menus with 5 categories. Each category shall have multiple link names that act as hyperlinks to various web pages.
These category names, link names and hyperlinks shall be changeable from the MAP (Master Administration Panel).
Right Hand Margin Frame:
The right hand margin frame shall contain an area for banner advertising. The frame banner advertisements shall allow a space for a banner ad, a hyper link to the website and a description field that describes the website. This combination shall be referred to as an advertising campaign.
The right hand margin frame will be dynamic and display up to 10 banner advertisements that appear randomly from a master list that is controlled by the administrator. The administrator can add, delete, activate or deactivate any of the advertising campaigns from the MAP.
Each advertising campaign shall consist of three components:
1. Image with a hyperlink.
2. Description Field
Below the image will be a Description Field that will describe the CLs website:
Example: For LVD Bulbs
3. Text Hyperlink
Below that will be displayed a Text Hyperlink that links to the CL website:
The active banner ad image, link and description shall be able to be changed added and deleted from the MAP. In addition, each banner ad can be deleted, activated or deactivated from the MAP. This will allow older banner ads to be retained but deactivated so that they will not appear on the web pages. The administrator can also reactivate any banner advertising campaign from the MAP so that they will again appear on the web pages
ii. Make and Model Year.
After selecting the Part Category, the user will be presented with a list of all the vehicle Makes and Model years. The data for these drop-down menus shall be 1950-2008 and be capable of being extended for subsequent model years to come.:
This list must also be able to be updated from the MAP to allow new model years and models to be added.
iii. Model.
After selecting the Make and Model Year, the user will be presented with a list of all Models for that make and model year.
iv. Bulb Part List.
After selecting the Model, the user will be presented with a list of all of the light bulbs used in that make and model year.
This list shall be complied using the data available on the Internet.
Each part number and text shall have a substitute text displayed that shall be provided to you in advance.
