Hi, I usually program line following robots that have differential drive mechanism. That is there right and left side wheels are independently controlled. I have also made robots with holonomic robots with omnidirectional wheels. I usually deploy PID or just PI controller (algorithm) for line following. For programming any robot to follow a line I would need the description of the robot drive mechanism, it's dimensions and the number, type and placement of sensors that you are using. The thickness of the line and inter sensor spacing is also needed. Also tell me how fast your robot will be moving. I am actually a roboticist and have many years experience of making hobby robots, and teaching robotics at the university level.
