Expert Data Manager for GCP & Nvidia DGX

Compensation: $12,000- $17,500 dependent on experience. Location: This is a remote position, requiring candidates to be based in the US and available during standard US business hours. Candidates from outside the US candidates will also be considered. About the Role Trillium Technologies builds effective interdisciplinary teams to tackle the most interesting and important challenges of our time. These range from detecting and managing bushfires, to creating detailed maps of resources on the Moon, from mitigating the effects of global heating to deploying artificial intelligence (AI) tools into orbit. Our programs include FDL USA which was initiated by the office of the chief technologist at NASA HQ in 2016 and FDL Europe which was founded in 2018. This role will support the preparation for the sprint and help ensure the data is readily available to the teams as soon as they kick off their research. This initial phase is critical to laying the groundwork for each research challenge in advance of the sprint phase. This will ensure excellent results by preparing data, compute environments and management processes early, so that we can collaborate to overcome issues on a reasonable timescale. Our research programs apply agile methods to make rapid progress towards solutions, and are guided by academic rigor and open science principles, in AI and domain science, combined with significant resources to find solutions at scale. Interdisciplinary 3-4 person teams of PhD and postdoc level researchers and a faculty of 1-2 domain and ML experts address tightly defined science challenges which are informed by knowledge of “what’s possible in ML”. This format encourages rapid iteration and prototyping to create outputs with meaningful application to the space program, with substantial compute resources provided by our commercial partners. The Data Manager will work closely with the Trillium team and the faculty and help locate, prepare, and process data and data stacks and / or any methods for generating synthetic data in advance and start ingesting data onto Google GCP and / or the DGX 100s provided by Nvidia. The more prepared the teams are with the right data sets, the more efficient they are at understanding the problem and opportunity. The data manager is responsible for managing our research program compute by developing, overseeing, organizing, storing, and analyzing project data and data systems. The data manager ensures that all of this is always done with the utmost security and confidentiality protocols are in place. The data manager will ensure high data quality and also provide technical support for any issues that may arise. They will work effectively to run, monitor and triage control results, and escalate issues appropriately to ensure that issues are addressed and solved in accordance with their severity.
