I summarize the logs you provided and it looks like there is already a instance of the MariaDB process running,or at least the sock file exists and if no process is running it should be deleted prior to starting the process again. Please award me the project so we can fix it as soon as posible. Given my experience for over 20 years in the UNIX/Linux Administration and 10 years as a IT Senior Consulting, I'm more then confident that i can help you fixing this issue. I would start fixing this issue in 3 steps: 1) File based Backup of the database located in /var/lib/mysql Just to be sure, because i don't have any additional information at this time why this issue occured. Maybe because of a server hard restart or MariaDB package update. It helps a lot having additional information to how this issue started. Having some backup files is always a good idea. 2) Fixing any process hanging and clearing the socks and pid files of the process I will try to find out how this issue occured (if possible) so that we can fix it and decrease the risk it happens again in the future. 3) Starting the MariaDB process and checking if everything is working again.
