SQL developer needed for very small project

Hello, I need to create a query that will update a column's values based on data from another column. Here is the plan: There is a table called 'user_points'. It contains a user's ID and a list of points transactions for that user, plus the date that the transaction happened. Some transactions add points and some transactions minus points. E.g. < TABLE #1: user_points > User ID Points Date 100 -40 Jan 21 100 60 Jan 22 105 -20 Jan 13 105 30 Jan 25 I need to update a column in a different table with the total number of points for each user; the second table has only one entry (row) per user, unlike the first table. I think a SUM query could calculate how many points currently exist for each user, and then print that data into a column like this: < TABLE #2: total_points > User ID Total Points 100 20 105 10 The query needs to make sure that the 'user_id' is the same from the first table and the second table, of course, and then paste the correct points total into the second table, in a column called 'total points'. I can provide screenshots of these tables, more detailed information and database access of course.
