Senior PHP Programmer / Database Architect Full-Time Job

What we’re looking for: (Note: we ask that you please do NOT contact us unless you can provide this — we will test potential coders) * The developers need to be experts in developing high quality software. Part of the work will be adding unit tests, performance optimizations, and new features to the existing codebase. * Programmer needs to be able to code new features quickly but without using hacks, responsive and autonomous but able to work closely with me. * They need to be able to make wise architecture decisions to keep the product maintainable in the long run, and to independently keep abreast of best practices to be able to integrate new techniques into their work as the technology evolves. * Experienced PHP/MySQL application developer * Must be detail-oriented! * Must be expert in AJAX * Experience delivering substantial projects with the following technologies: o Large database design o Object-oriented design o Unit testing o CSS, DHTML, AJAX o Writing software test plans * Must have formal computer science degree. * Experience with high availability systems is a plus. * Must be experienced with using CVS, test plans, etc. Our site is comprised of: * PHP-based Content Management System (CMS) * E-commerce using PayPal, Amazon and Google Checkout * 500,000 members with portfolios on the system * A lot of AJAX and DHTML to improve usability and look & feel * Lots of CSS * The site has perhaps 30 main interface screens * We need you to also use [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] Experience Needed: * Detail-oriented and takes great care with their work. * Database (MySQL or other) administration to optimize queries and maintain the database. * Performs architecture and refactoring as well as development. * Experience optimizing the user experience and conversion rates on an ecommerce website is a huge asset. * An interest in usability testing. * Able to document their work. * Experience with (or interest in) test driven development. * Respond to troubleshooting, support, and bugfixes. * Experience with the quality, data integrity, and uptime requirements of a large member-based subscription service. ISP experience, for example, would be great. * A passion for polishing an existing service to continuously make it useful to users.
