Hi,
I just got my dedicated server with these specs:
Core2Duo 2.4, 4096MB RAM, 1x 320gig SATA
CentOs 5 + WHM + cPanel + Fantastico/Universina(Xcontroller)
3000GB Bandwidth
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am new to this and need some help. I am willing to learn how to administer and manage the server myself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What I basically want to do is create 2 main partitions on the server:
- one for my own sites, divided then in 2 containers (one for heavy sites, like the video sharing type and one for lighter sites);
- and a second partition divided in 5 containers for clients web hosting (100 clients in each).
I would want this done through openVZ (or another widely used open source virtualization software you would recommend).
I want to be able to set up hard drive space, bandwidth and RAM limitations for each VPS container. I would also want each container on a separate IP, but my web host want justifications for each IP, so I guess this will come in time, so I need to be able to assign new IPs later on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then I want to make a video sharing site (youtube clone) so I need all the necessary modules for youtube clones installed on the server (Mencoder – Mplayer, FFMPeg, FFMPeg-PHP, LAME, Libogg, LibVorbis and whatever else it's needed).
I found out about something called xmoov-php and I would like that (or something similar) on my site - it does "HTTP pseudo-streaming - Progressive Download using server side scripting to allow random access to parts of the video that have not yet loaded."
I also would like the thumbnails of the videos to change when you hover the mouse over (can be seen on youporn dot com).
I have clip share and rayzz scripts and will need one of them installed (open to your suggestions on which one is better or even to other scripts).
I want to make sure the videos are uploaded keeping the right aspect ratio and when enlarged to full screen they have to look right - e.i. not stretched to fit a wide screen monitor, but with the 2 dark bands added on the sides and the 4:3 aspect kept.
If you can remove the "powerd by..." message from the flash player (when you right click on it) that would be great!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am just starting so my budget is limited so please be reasonable, I will only consider decent quotes. I can do all of the above in 2 separate jobs for around $100, but I want to establish a long term partnership with only one programmer in this field. With growth and money starting to come from my websites and web hosting I will be able to pay more for your on going services.
Thank you.
