Given an MS ACCESS (2003) database containing two tables
1.) CONTACTS
(fields: FirstName, LastName, Address, City, EmailID, ContactID)
2.) Email Addresses
(fields: EmailID, EmailAddress)
with a one to many relationship on EmailID (ie, same contact may have several email addresses in the email table)
to create a set of VBA routines in Access that will check each new email received by MS outlook (2003) and try to match it to a contact in the database.
It would do this by:
1.) Firstly comparing the email address of the sender against the Email Addresses table to see if there is a corresponding unique contactid, then, if this fails
2.) Search the body of the email for occurrences of FirstName, LastName, Address, City to try to identify a unique ContactID for the email and if this fails
3.) Do the above (2) and bring up a form (say) with a prioritsied list of possible Contactids from the Contacts table with the most relevent at the top (like in a search engine)
The user could then compare the body of the email and choose the Contact from the list generated who sent the email.
This should all be written in VBA and have the posibility to incorporate other search criteria than the ones given above
(FirstName, LastName, Address, City) easily.
