Hello, OK, I'll optimise your Wordpress for better performance using 'other methods' AND cache plugin (probably premium WP-ROCKET). I do understand that you may be afraid to use a caching plugin if you've experienced plugin-related issues before (if the plugin was/were just installed, not properly configured), but caching is 'a must'.
