I see that you need detailed testing of a workflow and you also need a script to identify when things break. From this I imagine you need both manual testing to make sure the workflow is working properly and automation testing to run periodically for identifying when / if the workflow breaks. I'm putting in 20 days over here, but it is going to be 30 days if your application is very large. I understand that your job consists of the following parts: 1) Performing exploratory testing around the product + clarifications to understand it better. 2) Test different combinations around your product, find issues and report them. 3) For the bugs that are discovered, write automation code so that those bugs can be rediscovered by running the automation. I will be using Python + Selenium Webdriver + TestNG for this. These will also make it very easy for you to maintain it. Please note, that for any automation work we need to create a library of basic functions + use that to automate the failing tests.
