The current box is hand-sized and is designed to contain three vials. We need you to explore opening mechanisms that are secure, yet ergonomic and user-friendly. Goals: 1. Design snap-fit opening mechanism options: Create various snap-fit designs that will allow the lid to securely attach to the box. The box designs should ensure easy lid removal and attachment by the user. Constraints: - The design options must be made in two versions: one for 3d printing (SLS) and one for injection molding. - The lid needs to be completely removable (no hinges). - The 3 circular holes on the lid need to remain there. - The outer dimensions of the box need to remain the same (however, small grooves, or indents that go INWARDS are allowed…as long as they do not interfere with the vials). - There is a barcode on one side of the box. The barcode area cannot be modified. 2. FEA: Conduct Finite Element Analysis on the designed snap-fit options to validate their efficiency and durability. This should confirm that the design is production-ready and can withstand repeated use without failure. We also need a video that shows how the snap-fit bends (and how forces are distributed) as the lid is added and removed.

Greetings. I can design the snap fit in SolidWorks 2020 and complete the FEA. My qualification is in Mechanical Engineering and I have extensive experience in product design. I would need to see the product and determine what snap fit design is required. Note: Snap fit designs are prone to damage for prolonged use. Not suitable to store/contain vials. I have done a lot of snap fit designs for injection molding, some for sheet metal and some combining injection molding with castings or fabricated parts. There are examples everywhere of what you are looking for, the trick is to make them work reliably. There is snap fit design for three categories: 1-fit once and stay there, disassembly might break the pieces, like car panels 2-fit and open and refit, should withstand some hundreds of cycles, like a battery cover 3-fit and open thousand of times, like a sunglasses case The fact that I have deep knowledge of the production processes, as I have been in charge of them, makes DFM natural to me. I own and run a Solidworks licence. I have more than 15.000 hours with 3D CAD, most of them with SW and Creo. I hope that your desire of SLS 3D printed is for prototype only, as 3d printing, SLS in particular, produces parts that are extremly britle compared to the same injection molded resin. Though there are ways of improving this, parts fail after a few cycles. Believe me, I have tried this many times.
