Database Migration

Hello, I am a veteran (25+ years) database developer with real industry experience using SQL Server (v6.5 thru 2017), Oracle (v6 thru v18c), MySQL (4.x thru 8.x) and a few others. Over these years, I have worked as a database designer, developer and a migration expert. While I primarily use vendor-supplied tools, I have also developed a toolkit which enables pre and post migration comparisons (checksums, row counts, sampling data for random analysis). I usually prepare a migration plan with the users to set expectations, timeframes, platform limitations and training. I routinely provide for an initial smoke-test environment, then a UAT environment which will then progress to a production environment.
