high server load needs fixing

I need a competant sysadmin who can assess my server and find out why it sits with such a high load average (between 1 and 10 constantly, and it regularly spikes to above 50) even though it barely gets used. I think the problem may have something to do with exim and large amounts of spam being sent to my users but I'm not sure and I definitely need somebody experienced to help. The problem can be in any number of areas, finding it would not be too difficult, but fixing it is the big problem. I have 5 years experience of administrating linux boxes and fixing just this type of problem many times over.
