Find interview Opportunities Identification
Instructions
Please compile lists of the following on separate tabs in an Excel spreadsheet:
> US-based radio shows and podcasts
Qualify per below as you're able to. Make a note next to the link (H for high match, M for medium, plus anything else you've noticed.)
Purpose
What we want to assemble is a list of radio shows and podcasts our target market may listen to. Please note how important it is for you to choose quality interview opportunities for our list in this project, because otherwise we'll all be wasting our time.
Begin with the bigger markets: New York, Washington, Atlanta, Tampa, Los Angeles, Seattle. Consider: is the CEO or line manager of a large company potentially going to be listening to this show? A morning AM radio show in Bismark, ND, for instance, isn't a likely candidate.
Please look at the following kinds of things to see if it's a fit or not:
> target market & demographic description, such as 35+ years old, high income levels, interests in management, strategy, change management
> recent shows, recordings, updates—ie. the show didn't stop being produced a year ago and this is just an archive
> intelligent comments from listeners who appear to be in the kind of roles we're seeking to reach (remember, ONE comment typically represents hundreds or even thousands of similar listeners)
> downloadable content that is relevant to my client's topic, eg. pdf reports from the interviewee.
We are looking for line managers and CEOs of companies typically with 500+ people.

It should give you a good idea of the kind of prospect we're seeking. If you don't have KU, that's OK.
So it's important for you to qualify these listings if you're able to. The truth is that the audience of most radio shows could fit inside a garage. They will also be a mix of people who are merely interested in management, and others who have real executive jobs in the field. But some of them will be a good fit, managers and CEOs—not just investors, for example. We want people who run large companies, or manage a business unit.
Be deliberate in your selection when it comes to “business” podcasts. While this may seem to have good overlap, many “Mom & Pop” businesses are simply too small to require my client's services. Including a few of these on the list that seem to have good overlap is OK; however, if the list is made entire up of “Entrepreneur On Fire”-type shows, I will be disappointed.
I would rather we get more radio show listings than podcasts.
You should be spending less than 5 minutes to qualify an individual platform.
