We have a management service that we want to use to monitor our servers. We want to include the RAID disk failures and hopefully potential failures in this monitoring.
Beware this is not as simple as it sounds. We have tried the S.M.A.R.T. API with very limited success. We also used a number of external tools that we were not convinced worked either.
All our servers are HP DL360,380. There are also some DL140 and 180's but we do not think they support SMART anyway.
You can do this via SMART? API or the HP hardware log. If you do this via the HP log file you should be able to handle the different HP server management service versions.
If somebody has experience of this this? work this project is? very straight forward.? ?
?
We just need list of disks on server and either a? ok, warn,? fail message.
## Deliverables
We just need a simple form that reads the disks state or HP log (not windows log) to get state of the disks and outputs a collection.
There may be the need for an external API Libary.
Please be aware though this MUST work on all DL380, 360 G4->6. The tools we have tried so far with SMART have had very limited results. I do not know what HP use for their codes either
Please be aware of this.? It will require somebody with some experience in this field.
