Hello! I am very interested in your project as it's basic concept is to use Raspberry Pi. I've been using RPi for almost 2 years now and created some projects on this platform. One of the project was my master degree thesis project which was reading car OBD2 system using C++ application running on this device. Then the data were available via webservice to display it on web browser over GPRS. Aim was to monitor car status remotely when it was on the road. My another project on Raspberry Pi is a Python application dedicated for data acquisition from energy, water and gas meters via Modbus and MBus protocols. Data are collected and sent to server for later processing for energy efficiency and generating energy savings. In my opinion I have a very good skill and knowledge to help you with your project.
